Chordalys Mood is a MIDI harmony and phrase generator built for inspiration, experimentation and happy accidents.

Play a single MIDI note and Chordalys can turn it into an expressive harmony — then take that harmony further by transforming it into sequences and generated musical phrases.

Instead of asking you to think in chord names, extensions and modes, Chordalys works around Mood. Choose how you want something to feel, shape its character, and start playing.

Sometimes you know exactly what you want to write.

Sometimes you just need something unexpected to happen.

Chordalys was made for that second moment.

More than a chord generator

Chordalys started as a simple idea: one note in, a chord out.

It has since grown into an expressive MIDI instrument.

The Mood and Harmony engine builds harmonies according to the musical character you’ve selected rather than simply attaching the same fixed chord shape to every note.

The Phrase Engine can then take those generated voices and create structured, repeatable musical phrases of up to 32 steps.

Rather than simply picking notes at random, it considers musical movement and structure to produce phrases that can become anything from an arpeggio to the beginning of a completely new track.

And because generation is seeded, the happy accidents you discover can be reproduced.

This isn’t a time-limited trial.

Chordalys Mood Free is deliberately designed to be a useful musical instrument in its own right. You can write music with it, save projects with it and keep using it.

The Free edition has a smaller harmonic palette and is limited to a maximum Depth of 3. If you eventually want the larger collection of Moods, deeper harmonies and the complete set of expressive and performance controls, Chordalys Mood Pro expands on the same instrument.

You don’t need Pro to find out whether Chordalys belongs in your workflow.

How do I use it?

Chordalys is a MIDI effect, not a synthesizer.

Route MIDI through Chordalys and then into your favorite synth or instrument:

MIDI input → Chordalys Mood → Synth → Sound

Play a note. Choose a Mood. Try the Phrase Engine. Change the Variation.

If something makes you stop and think “I wouldn’t have played that”, Chordalys has done its job.
